In addition, under her oversight, the Board adopted a new comprehensive transit service plan balancing the demands for ridership and the needs for coverage. In the year she was in this role, she was responsible for developing the implementation plan for the multi-modal Measure B sales tax. Gonot was assigned an interim Chief Officer role while VTA was pursuing, and what became, the successful Measure B for ½ -cent sales tax projected to raise over $10 billion for transportation improvements in Santa Clara County. Gonot had over 23 years at Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and held various executive management roles. She heads the agency of over 2600 employees, delivering bus, light rail, commuter rail, and paratransit services to Salt Lake City and the Wasatch region. Jerry is passionate about continuous improvement and delivering technology solutions that meet human needs & accomplish business objectives.Carolyn Gonot recently joined Utah Transit Authority as Executive Director. Jerry has a bachelor's degree in Information Systems and a master's degree in business administration, with an emphasis in marketing. Prior to his UTA experience with e-payments and contactless smartcards, Jerry spent nearly two decades in the private sector working for small, medium, and large organizations, including Intel Corporation. Before becoming an IT leader at UTA, Jerry spent nearly a decade managing business operations for UTA's internationally acclaimed Electronic Fare Collection (EFC) system, the first account-based system of its kind in the nation. Jerry managed a 12-month IT project that was awarded 2019 Project of the Year by the Northern Utah Chapter of the Project Management Institute. He is currently working as an IT Manager at Utah Transit Authority (UTA), responsible for the App Development group as well as the IT Project Management Office. Jerry Van Wie has been in leadership and technology delivery roles for many years.
